COVID-19: EVENTS CANCELLED

We very much regret that we have had to cancel our future planned Worcestershire Early Music events including the 2020 Festival, Baroquathon and Pride & Prejudice Ball.

Ticket refunds are available from Eventbrite or Worcester Live.

We very much hope that our 2020 Festival will be able to take place in 2021! The dates are now fixed – Friday 21 to Sunday 23 May.

In Ecclesiis – a very special concert!

I can’t promise that we’ll be dressed like this…but the sounds will be similar on 7 March, 7.30pm, when the The Oriel Singers will join the Worcester Early Music Band of violins, cornetts, sackbuts and bass viol for music by De Padilla, Monteverdi, Schütz, Rossi, Gabrieli and more at St Martin’s Church, London Road, Worcester

Tickets from the Oriel Singers website, or Worcester Live (01905 611427 and in person at Huntingdon Hall)

Lion Ballroom Tea Dance

Our first event of 2020 was the Pride and Prejudice Tea Dance in the Lion Ballroom, Leominster. Dancers arrived from Oxford and Cardiff and all places in between, to dance a selection of carefully chosen dances led by Dancing Master, Brian Stanton. Music was provided by Peter and Moira of Dampiers Round.

We found out that a Buskin is not only the name of an 18th century dance but it refers to the laces of a type of footwear worn at the time…..even by Robinson Crusoe, as described by Daniel Defoe. It’s amazing what you learn with Worcestershire Early Music!
