IT&T’s leader Bojan Cicic directs a small-scale version of the group in a selection of dazzling concertos for violin from around the Adriatic by Stratico, Tartini, Vivaldi, Sorkočević, and Giornovich.
A rare opportunity to hear music by three composers whose lives and careers were related to Croatia: the Venetian violinist Giuseppe Michele Stratico, born in Zadar; Giovanni Giornovich, another violinist, reputedly born at sea en route from Dubrovnik to Palermo, who later travelled all over Europe; and Dubrovnik-born diplomat Luka Sorkočević.
Presented alongside concertos by the Pirano-born Tartini and his more famous Venetian counterpart, Vivaldi, this concert concert explores the relationship between Venice and Croatia in the 18th century, and is a must for anyone who fell in love with the Adriatic sea after seeing it for the first time.
