SUMMARY:Bellot Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:The Bellot Ensemble is a vibrant period instrument group celebrated for energetic performances and a distinctive approach to 17th-century repertoire. Rooted in historical performance practice\, the ensemble blends detailed research with spontaneity\, particularly through written divisions and the expressive interpretation of early texts. \n\n\n\nTheir work often brings together instrumental and vocal forces\, with regular collaborations involving consorts\, choirs\, and opera companies. In October 2025\, the group began a two-year term as the BBC New Generation Baroque Ensemble\, a prestigious development scheme led by BBC Radio 3\, the Royal College of Music and the National Centre for Early Music. The programme supports emerging UK-based Baroque groups through expert coaching\, recording and broadcast opportunities\, and a regular performance platform. \n\n\n\nBellot Ensemble was also selected for the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme 2025-26\, where they took part in the Chamber Music Residency at Snape Maltings supported by the Keith Coventry Bursary. They were also part of the Brighton Early Music Festival Live Scheme 2023-24 and maintain close ties with choral and opera groups across the UK. In 2024 they toured John Frederick Lampe’s The Dragon of Wantley with New Sussex Opera conducted by Toby Purser and appeared as Featured Artists at the Overstrand Early Music Festival in a semi-staged Dido and Aeneas with Norwich Baroque. They were also recipients of the Philip and Dorothy Green Young Artist Award for 2024-25. \n\n\n\nTo buy tickets\, please use the following link: The Bellot Ensemble – Sunday 14th February 2027 at 3.30pm (The Old Palace) \n\n\n\nSeason tickets\, which offer discounted entry to all our season’s concerts (4 for the price of 3)\, are available here: Worcestershire Early Music Subscription 2026-7 – 4 concerts for the price of 3! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://www.bellotensemble.com

SUMMARY:Musical & Amicable Society
DESCRIPTION:The original Musical & Amicable Society was founded in 1762 by James Kempson\, who directed the choir at St Bartholomew’s Chapel\, Birmingham. Together with fellow musicians from St Philip’s Church (now Birmingham Cathedral)\, Kempson and his singers gathered on a regular basis at Cooke’s tavern in the Cherry Orchard ‘for practice and recreation’! \n\n\n\nIn 2003\, Kate Fawcett and Martin Perkins decided to revive this historic society as a collective of professional period-instrument specialists\, performing in combinations ranging from small ensembles to full orchestra. \n\n\n\nThe group’s presiding ethos is one of chamber music – however large or small the formation – where each and every performer has a significant role to play. Rapidly in demand\, the Society now performs regularly throughout the country\, including an annual tour of Christmas concerti – as well as performing JS Bach’s Brandenburg Concerti 3-6 for WEM’s sell-out concert on 19 April 2026! \n\n\n\nIndividually\, its members maintain successful freelance careers with some of Europe’s most prestigious period-instrument ensembles. Collectively\, they delight in exploring Baroque and Classical repertoire\, both familiar and forgotten\, recreating the soundscape of an earlier era for a 21st-century audience. As well as researching and devising programmes\, the group enjoys collaborating with enlightened choirs to breathe new life into choral masterpieces. \n\n\n\nTo buy tickets\, please use the following link: The Musical & Amicable Society – Sunday 11th April 2027 (The Old Palace) \n\n\n\nSeason tickets\, which offer discounted entry to all our season’s concerts (4 for the price of 3)\, are available here: Worcestershire Early Music Subscription 2026-7 – 4 concerts for the price of 3! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://www.amicables.co.uk
