Henrick Persson returns to play for us in November with Caroline Richie and Lynda Sayce in a programme entitled Newe Vialles/Old viols
The consort Newe Vialles was launched in 2015; the name reflects the Newe Vialles brought to the English Court by Henry VIII to replace the old vialles, (which included rebecs and fiddles), and so began the long tradition of viol playing in the British Isles.
Our concert is part of the group’s tour to celebrate two recently recorded albums which follow the development of duo division viol music, and includes works by Christopher Simpson, John Jenkins and Benjamin Hely.
