A concert of English and Italian Lute songs

Our first live music event on Sunday 23rd May was well received; those who came appreciated the opportunity to hear live music for the first time in over a year, and our performers Charles Daniels and Elizabeth Kenny were delighted to be performing again to real people!

The programme of 17th Century English and Italian Lute songs included works by John Dowland, Anthony Holborne, John Blow, Samuel Akeroyde and Henry Purcell from England; and from Italy Guilini Caccini, Claudio Monteverdi, Hieronymous Kapsberger, Alessandro Piccinini, Sigismondo d’India and Giacomo Carissimi.

We were especially grateful to Charles and Elizabeth for this comprehensive programme as we learned that Elin Manahan Thomas was indisposed at such short notice
