Red Priest – “WILD MEN OF THE BAROQUE” – concert and recorder masterclass
October 25 @ 15:30 – 17:30
Join Piers Adams (recorders) and David Wright (keyboard) for an afternoon of virtuosic baroque music.
Red Priest needs little introduction as one of the foremost baroque ensembles in the world – and certainly the most dynamic and original. The group has performed over 1000 concerts throughout Europe, North America, Asia and Australia and recorded seven CDs of which, ‘The Baroque Bohemians’, reached No. 1 in the UK Classical Charts.
Virtuoso musicians Piers Adams and David Wright – who together make up half of the legendary Red Priest quartet – take us on a journey through the wild side of the baroque era with some extraordinary music by little known 17th century composers in the ‘Phantasticus’ style, alongside an array of high-baroque masterworks.
The programme will include music by Corelli, Handel, Telemann, Castello, Bull, Uccellini, Marini, Van Eyck, Pandolfi, Royer and Biber.
“Superhuman virtuosity, a laughing recklessness and style you can’t buy…”
— GRAMOPHONE
There will also be a recorder masterclass before the concert from 12-1pm – FREE to all concert ticket purchasers.
