New season soon to be announced in full.

Following our decision to run a season of concerts each year rather than a weekend festival, we have been busy behind the scenes drawing up the programme of events for 2022-2023.

Our first event is a collaboration with Worcester Concert Club on Sunday October 9th when Tabea Debus will give a midday Masterclass and 3pm concert in Huntingdon Hall, together with Elizabeth Kenny and Jonathan Rees. The Masterclass students will be from the Birmingham Conservatoire.

Tickets for the full season will be available soon when the programme details are finalised, but in the meantime tickets for this our first event can be bought from Worcester Live at Huntingdon Hall Box Office (01905 611427)

Worcestershire Early Music is grateful for support from Midlands Early Music Forum for this event

Coming to Worcester this weekend…

The International Guild of Town Pipers will be gathering for their biennial festival here in Worcester.

The guild consists of Waits bands from all parts of the country who perform music dating from mediaeval times, when each town had their own Waits band who performed and were paid for their municipal duties.

From 10.00am on Saturday there will be performances outdoors at the Guildhall, Greyfriars, and the Commandery, given by Waits bands from Bristol, Colchester, Doncaster, Gloucester, Leeds and the Stadspijpers of Hergtogenbosch.

On Sunday morning there will be a massed performance in Cathedral Plaza when all the bands will play together

AND IT’S ALL FREE, so come and join the mediaeval fun

Pride and Prejudice Ball

Our annual Pride and Prejudice Ball takes place on Saturday 21st May in the Guildhall, Worcester.

There are still a few tickets left so hurry if you haven’t yet booked. (www.eventbrite or barbara.wem@gmail.com).

We are looking forward to musicians Vicki Swan ( nyckelharpa) and Jonny Dyer (guitar) playing the music for the dances chosen from the wealth of 17th and 18th century dances published by Playford, Walsh, Thompson, Wright, Cahusac and many more.

Last year our online ball brought dancers from America, Canada, the Phillipines, Spain, Holland, France and of course the UK; we’re not expecting people to travel quite so far this year!
